About Mowing
The first step towards having a great lawn is a regular mowing regime.
Lawns need to be cut on a regular basis with sharp mowers at the
correct height before you can consider having a great lawn. If you
are not prepared to cut the grass once a week though the growing
season then don’t bother to call us in to treat it.
We do not run a regular
mowing service, but we do know several people in the area who can
offer this service and if we know they do a good job, we are happy
to recommend them.
Weed Control
While mowing regularly will reduce the amount of weeds in the lawn,
by not allowing them to rise up and spread seed, but herbicides
are required to drastically reduce the number of weeds in a lawn
to almost zero.
Although you can purchase
weed killers from the garden centre that are fairly effective on
the softer weeds, the costs are high and method of application totally
impracticable unless just to spot treat the odd broadleaf weed.
We are experienced and
licensed in the control of weeds. We have a wide range of lawn herbicides
in our armoury to allow us to deal with weeds safely and effectively.
It really is best to get
professional help for this as we can apply very effective herbicides
that are not available to the general public.
Fertilizer
Fertilizer is essential to replace the nutrients that we take out
of the lawn every time we cut it. Trinity Lawn Care uses a range
of granular fertilizers depending on the condition of the lawns
and also according to weather conditions.
Our aim is to make your
lawn green and healthy without making it grow too fast. Our fertilizers
do not contain any weed killers, and are safe to use where pets
& children use the lawn, also they do not have to be “watered
in”. We are also keen to use organic fertilizers when &
where they are appropriate.
Moss Problems. Moss is doing particularly well again this winter because
of the mild damp autumn.
What should be done about
it?
The simplest way to treat moss is to get us to apply an iron treatment;
this will turn the moss black and give the grass a “green
up” tonic.
Moss will keep returning though each season unless you do something
about the underlying problem, which is basically that, the turf
needs to have a proper maintenance regime i.e. Aeration & Scarification.
Ant Problems. At this
time of year ants in the lawn start to be a bit of a nuisance. They
are not going to cause any direct harm but, the mounds they make
will cause problems with mowing and often the grass gets scalped
by the mower. Then the moss gets in. What can we do about it. We
recommend aeration, because although this is not a conventional
poisoning answer, we know that it disturbs them and with a bit of
luck it will drive them out of the lawn. The other benefit is that
it’s a very good procedure to carry out on a lawn regularly.

What
we do for lawns is Fertilize (fertilizer) them or if you prefer
fertilise (fertiliser) them, we kill weeds, or weed kill, or weed
control. We can control moss, we can deal with lawn fungus problems
such as Red Thread, Fusarium, we can do a pretty good job on fairy
ring as well. We also scarify lawns and aerate them plus we aerate
them by either hollow tine aeration or spiking and very often slitting.
We deal with thatch and brown patches in lawns. We are very good
at wetting agents, chaffer grub, leather jackets ants in lawns.
Another string to our bow is wild flower meadow, a more eco friendly
way of not having a lawn.
